Prospects for Peace?
Edited by Arndt Graf, Peter Kreuzer and Rainer Werning

Essays from a Penang conference on the Mindanao conflict after the collapse of the 2008 ancestral domain agreement.
This collection of essays, edited by Arndt Graf, Peter Kreuzer and Rainer Werning, looks at the Moro conflict and the chances for peace.
Rainer Werning opens with the long history of the conflict. Epifanio San Juan Jr. writes on Moro identity and self-determination, and Peter Kreuzer on how the civil war links to local violence. Other chapters ask whether Muslim members of Congress serve their voters or act as local power brokers, and look at the MILF's strategy between jihadism and negotiation. There are also chapters on how the Indonesian Muslim press and the foreign media covered the conflict and the Abu Sayyaf, and on the future of the ARMM.
