Perspectives from Stakeholders and Observers on the Conflict in the Southern Philippines
Edited by Peter Kreuzer and Rainer Werning
No longer sold new: look for it in a library, or for a used copy.
Essays by people inside the conflict and those who study it, Moro scholars, MILF writers and foreign observers among them, gathered by two German researchers.
Peter Kreuzer and Rainer Werning, 2 German researchers, edited this collection of essays by people involved in or close to the conflict in the southern Philippines. It was published in Malaysia in 2007 by the Strategic Information and Research Development Centre.
The editors open with an overview of the "zig-zag path from war to peace". Werning then looks at how the German media covered the 2000 kidnappings from Sipadan. Julkipli Wadi writes on Southeast Asian regional security and the Mindanao conflict. Abhoud Syed M. Lingga contributes 2 essays, on Bangsamoro self-determination and on the role of third parties in the peace process. Salah Jubair writes on the MILF's peace talks with the government, and Philipp Bück on civil society and the conflict. Ishak Mastura writes on peace and development in the ARMM and on security, ethnic conflict and the United States in the South. Michael Mastura closes with an essay on political Islam in the 21st-century Philippines.
