How America Battled a Muslim Insurgency in the Philippine Jungle, 1902–1913
Still in print: the link goes to a shop that sells it.
The American campaigns against the Moros under Wood, Bliss and Pershing, from Bud Dajo to Bud Bagsak, as a military history for the general reader.
James R. Arnold tells the story of the American war against the Moros of Mindanao and Sulu from 1902 to 1913. The library record describes it as covering the fierce debates between military men and peace advocates, the problems US forces faced, and the role of the future general John Pershing.
The book has 20 chapters in time order. It begins with "A place called Moroland", first contacts and the Battle of Bayan. It then follows the rise of Pershing, the governorship of Leonard Wood and the killing at Bud Dajo, the quieter years under Tasker Bliss, jungle patrols, and Pershing's return. It ends with Bud Bagsak, "the last battle".
The closing chapters, "A forgotten war" and "The cradle of leadership", look at what the campaign meant for the American officers who served in it. The book has notes, a bibliography and an index.
