Women of Faith, Light of Peace: Proceedings of the Regional Conference of Women Peace Advocates, 24–27 January 2010, Davao City

Proceedings of a 4-day regional conference in Davao City of Muslim women working for peace. It records the talks and discussions on women's roles in peacebuilding in Mindanao.
Noor-us Salam: Women of Faith, Light of Peace holds the proceedings of the Regional Conference of Women Peace Advocates, held at the Waterfront Insular Hotel in Davao City from 24 to 27 January 2010. The Philippine Council for Islam and Democracy (PCID) and the Magbassa Kita Foundation published the 95-page book the same year, with many colour pictures.
The conference brought together about 150 aleemat, Muslim women scholars of Islam, and women leaders from civil society. It was the start of Noorus Salam, a network of Muslim women working for peace. The idea grew from the National Ulama Summit of January 2008, where 25 aleemat asked for their own meetings on the problems of Muslim women and families. The 2 groups had already run human rights training for Muslim women since 2006, with the Commission on Human Rights. The name, "light of peace", was first used by a core group of women in Cotabato City.
The Magbassa Kita Foundation is a literacy programme begun in Sulu by the former senator Santanina Rasul. Her daughter, Amina Rasul-Bernardo, co-founded the PCID in 2002.
