Poems by a Cebuano poet and retired judge, the title poem among them written on the siege of Marawi.
This is the 10th poetry collection of Simeon Dumdum Jr., a poet and former trial court judge in Cebu City. It was published by Bughaw, an imprint of Ateneo de Manila University Press.
The title poem, written in long lines set in groups of 3, describes the attackers who came "pounding their way through Marawi, waving black flags" and seized a priest. The rest of the book ranges widely: home life, travel, nature and figures from popular culture. The poems use many forms, among them the haiku, sonnet, villanelle, sestina, ballad and the Korean sijo.
