A Peace Advocate's Essays on the Controversial Memorandum of Agreement on Ancestral Domain
No longer sold new: look for it in a library, or for a used copy.
Essays by a peace advocate and lawyer defending the 2008 Memorandum of Agreement on Ancestral Domain, which the Supreme Court struck down. They also propose ways forward for the GRP–MILF talks after its collapse.
Soliman M. Santos Jr., a lawyer and peace advocate, gathers his essays on the Memorandum of Agreement on Ancestral Domain between the government and the MILF. The agreement was due to be signed on 5 August 2008 but was stopped, and the Supreme Court later struck it down. The earliest essay is dated that same day.
The book is a compilation rather than a single argument. Some essays defend the agreement against its critics. Others look past it to what the talks should do next. In one paper Santos proposed to "leap-frog" over the failed agreement and move straight to negotiating a comprehensive compact.
The Alternate Forum for Research in Mindanao published the book in Davao City and launched it with the Mindanao Peoples' Caucus on 15 July 2011.
