The standard Maranao–English dictionary, compiled by an American linguist and a Maranao lexicographer.
This dictionary has about 18,000 Maranao entries, most explained in 2 to 4 English words or phrases. A second part works from English back to the Maranao entries. More than 3,000 words are shown in example sentences with free English translations, and more than 700 Maranao plant names are matched to their scientific names. A short sketch of Maranao grammar helps users find the base forms of words.
It was compiled by the American linguist Howard P. McKaughan and Batua A. Macaraya, and published by the University of Hawaii Press in 1967.
