Another Unknown and Exotic Tribe of the Philippines
No longer sold new: look for it in a library, or for a used copy.
One of the few book-length accounts of the Yakan of Basilan: their farming, weaving, rites and faith as they were in the 1970s.
Andrew D. Sherfan's study of the Yakan people of Basilan carries the subtitle Another Unknown and Exotic Tribe of the Philippines. Fotomatic in Cebu City published it in 1976, in 224 illustrated pages with a short bibliography. Its first chapter gives a general background on Basilan Island. It is still cited as a source on Yakan culture, for example on the Yakan use of Jawi script, pottery and drums.
Andrew Dib Sherfan also wrote on the Lebanese-American poet Kahlil Gibran. His books include Kahlil Gibran: The Nature of Love (1971), and he edited A Third Treasury of Kahlil Gibran (1975).
