Stories of Tausug life in Sulu by a Tausug writer of fiction, from De La Salle University Press.
Panunggud and Other Stories is a collection of short stories in English by Calbi A. Asain, a Tausug writer from Sulu. De La Salle University Press published it in 2001, at 110 pages.
Asain has also written about Tausug oral literature. In a 2006 article in The Journal of History he described the parang sabil kissa, sung ballads and epics of Jolo that are meant both to entertain and to teach, sung by a woman playing the gabbang, a bamboo xylophone, often with a man on the biyula, a native violin.
His second collection, Bride Price and Other Stories, came out from Xavier University Press in 2023. Its publisher presents it as a book about the people of the Sulu archipelago and as part of a growing body of written Tausug literature.
