Stories on Inter-religious Dialogue and Peace-building
No longer sold new: look for it in a library, or for a used copy.
Stories from Pikit, Cotabato, where the author served as parish priest, of Muslims and Christians rebuilding trust after war. It draws on years of interfaith and peacebuilding work in a town hit hard by war.
This book collects stories by Fr. Roberto C. Layson, a Catholic missionary priest, from his MindaNews column of the same name. MindaNews editor Carol Arguillas suggested turning the columns into a book. Most of the stories come from Pikit, Cotabato, where he spent 10 years working on dialogue between Muslims and Christians.
Layson was a parish priest in Bongao, Jolo and Pikit from 1988 to 2008, and led his congregation's inter-religious ministry. He received the Pax Christi International Peace Award in 2002.
The stories share one message: that inter-religious dialogue and peacebuilding are not impossible, even if work at the grassroots looks small and its results take time to show.
